Each spring Sweet Adelines International holds regional competitions where quartets and choruses are judged against standards in Music, Showmanship, Expression, and Sound. Region 17 has been holding their Regional Competition in Cleveland for the past few years because of it's central location within the region. Region 17 encompasses Parts of Ohio, Western PA, Western Indiana, and Southern Michigan.

Those choruses and quartets skilled enough to win their regions are given the opportunity to compete at the International level.  The 2006 International Convention will be in Las Vegas.
